I had expected the ruined castle to become the star of the episode, but the cows were trying hard to steal the show on this walking tour of mine! Nevertheless, I was blessed once again with glorious sunshine on this day in July. This is especially worth mentioning as the 2023 summer in England was ‘special’ to say the least. We do normally get very decent summers here in the South West.
On this walk, I started at Wareham railway station from where I headed south to the centre of the charming old market town. I then went on to the River Frome, where I joined the Purbeck Way.

Villages and heath
After a short walk along the river, I passed through the villages of Ridge and Stoborough Green. I then encountered a succession of wide and open heathlands, namely Stoborough Heath and Creech Heath.

Furzebrook
Upon reaching Furzebrook, I walked along Blue Pool Lane until I discovered another piece of peaceful and beautiful nature which was another mixture of heath and forests.

Corfe Castle
I continued my journey over a path along the Purbeck Ridge, where I had my first magnificent views of Corfe Castle. After enjoying the scenery for a while, I made my way to the quaint Corfe Castle village.

The video
My ultimate goal was to make it to the sea, but my plans were unexpectedly interrupted by … cows! Despite this, I had a lovely walk and ended my day with a refreshing pint of cider back in Bournemouth. Cheers and hopefully see you soon.
