Have you ever wondered what the distance is between Boscombe Pier and Bournemouth Pier? I have – and since this is a website about walking, I thought I’d take the opportunity to cover the entire distance between the two piers and share the results in my latest YouTube video.
Luckily, Jasmin had time that day to join me. We turned our endeavour into a full circular walk, starting at the Boscombe Chine Gardens.

Boscombe Chine Gardens and Boscombe Pier
Our walk began at the Boscombe Gardens bus stop on Christchurch Road, located right at the entrance to the gardens. From there, we simply headed straight through the Boscombe Chine Gardens to reach Boscombe Pier.
At the pier, we took a stroll across it and enjoyed the sweeping views over Poole Bay: to the east, Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight; to the west, Bournemouth Pier, Sandbanks, and the Isle of Purbeck.

Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier
West was our direction afterwards, as we followed the promenade (officially known as Undercliff Drive) along Bournemouth’s beautiful sandy beaches.
By the time we reached Bournemouth Pier, it was noticeably busier. Many schools in England and Wales had already started their summer holidays. After exploring the pier area, we continued north towards the Lower Gardens.

Lower Gardens and Bournemouth Square
We strolled through the gardens, took a short break by the Bourne Stream, and arrived at Bournemouth Square, where stalls and a beer garden had been set up for the summer season. We didn’t stop there, though. Our next destination was Westover Road.

The Brass Haus and the Red Arrow Memorial
That was where we had our pub stop! We chose The Brass Haus, a spacious venue inspired by Germany’s bierkellers, where each of us enjoyed a pint of cider. Afterwards, we climbed up the East Cliff to the Red Arrows Memorial.

East Overcliff Drive and return to the Boscombe Chine Gardens
From there, we followed East Overcliff Drive, rewarded with more great views over Poole Bay, before making our way back to Boscombe Chine Gardens, where our circular walk came to an end.
